Would you like the opportunity to make a difference in our community?
A Good Neighbour Scheme is a community led project that links neighbours who need some support, with local volunteers willing to help. Not only is it a great way of meeting new people in our community, but also helps everyone to feel more connected with their neighbours.
We will offer support from December 2019.
How does it work?
People will contact the scheme for support and requests will be assessed before being allocated to a suitable volunteer.
Types of support will be available?
- Befriending – cup of tea or a chat, maybe a game of cards
- Transport – a trip to the doctors or hospital, or hairdressers
- Everyday household tasks – such as changing a light bulb
- Support – help with shopping, writing or reading a letter, using the internet
Who can use the Scheme?
Support will be available to all residents of Barrow upon Soar; the only qualification is that you must be over 18 years of age.
What does it cost?
The service will be free to use apart from some transport costs and parking expenses. Lifts within the village will be free.
Will I be safe?
The scheme will be fully insured and all of our volunteers will have a DBS check at the enhanced level and will be wearing an ID badge giving you peace of mind that you are always receiving a safe service.
How do I volunteer?
We are always looking for more volunteers, and would love to discuss with you how you could get involved. Simply call us on 07771 625 591 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
