In June we had the wonderful news of confirmation of our funding requests. This has meant that our initial plans to be up and running before the end of the year can now really start to take shape!
We were able to have a table at the Street Market on 7th July which was a great opportunity to talk to lots of our fellow Barrow residents, as well as it being a lovely sunny day. Lots of people stopped to chat and hear about our scheme, and many of you took our leaflets to read later or pass on to other friends and family. We also had lots of new volunteers sign up on the day. Thank you to all of you.

DBS Checks:
We will soon begin to apply for DBS checks for all our volunteers. This process will help to provide peace of mind to the people we will be supporting that they are receiving a safe service.
There is an online form to complete and you will be sent a link to it once we know that you are happy to proceed with this process. We will need to confirm we have the correct details for you, such as title, full name, date of birth, phone number and email, so we will write to you again in the next few weeks to arrange a quick meeting with you where we can confirm these, and at the same time we will discuss what support you can provide.
Drop-In Sessions:
We are currently planning 2 Drop-In events for October. Details will be on the website as soon as we can confirm these plans. It would be great if you could attend one of these events to meet our current Committee members as well as other new volunteers. Dates are as follows:
- Wednesday 23rd October 6:30 – 8:30
- Tuesday 29th October 1:30 – 3:30
